Chris Winter, M.D.Chris Winter, MD
Dr. Christopher Winter is the Medical Director of the Sleep Medicine Center, and has practiced sleep medicine and neurology in Charlottesville, Virginia since 2004. He has been involved with sleep medicine and sleep research since 1993. The recipient of research awards from both the Sleep Medicine Society and the Associated Professional Sleep Societies, Dr. Winter has authored numerous scientific papers and abstracts dealing with sleep and has been a presenter at many international sleep meetings. Currently, his research deals with sleep and its effect on athletic performance. He is currently a consultant with teams in both the MLB and NBA. His expertise in sleep as it relates to health and fitness led to Dr. Winter being named to the Men's Health Magazine Health Advisory Board. He serves as their Sleep Medicine expert and regularly contributes to its articles.

Dr. Winter is a graduate of the University of Virginia and received his medical degree from Emory University. He completed his Neurology residency at the University of Virginia and won a national American Academy of Neurology Teaching Award during his chief year. He completed his Sleep Medicine fellowship at the University of North Carolina. Dr. Winter is board certified in both neurology and sleep medicine. He enjoys not only studying athletics, but is an avid triathlete himself.


Elizabeth Foreman, M.D.Elizabeth Foreman, MD
Dr. Foreman is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine and will sit for the sleep board exam in November 2009. She completed her fellowship in pulmonary & critical care medicine at the University of Virginia and a sleep medicine fellowship at the University of North Carolina. She has co-authored a chapter on the impact of sleep and sleep disorders on cardiovascular health and is interested in treatment of sleep breathing disorders, pregnancy-related sleep apnea, treatment of pre-eclampsia with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), and the role of actigraphy in the diagnosis of sleep problems. She is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, American Thoracic Society, American College of Chest Physicians and the American College of Physicians.


Elizabeth Foreman, M.D.William Hammond, MD
Dr. Hammond is board certified in sleep medicine, internal medicine, pulmonary medicine and critical care. He completed his fellowship in pulmonology at the University of Virginia. He is experienced in sleep medicine and has special clinical interest in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. In addition, Dr. Hammond is the Medical Director of the Intensive Care Unit and Respiratory Therapy at Martha Jefferson Hospital.

 
Staff
Our staff includes board registered polysomnographic technicians, respiratory therapists and a registered EEG technician. Each of them works closely with the physicians to ensure patients receive the highest quality care. Among the friendly faces you'll meet are:

LauraLaura, RN, BSN, Manager
Laura received her undergraduate degree in nursing from Villanova University. She has over 10 years experience working in critical care and several years experience in cardiac rehab. She has experience in cardiac disease prevention and rehabilitation as well as in non-invasive cardiology diagnostic services. Currently, Laura works as Manager of the Cardiology Care Center, Sleep Medicine Center, and Respiratory Therapy. In her spare time, she enjoys jogging, reading books, and spending time with her husband and three boys.



TabathaTabatha, RPSGT, RRT, Lead Technologist
Tabatha received her Associate of Science from J. Sargeant Reynolds in Respiratory Therapy in 2004. Credentials include Registered Polysomnographic Technologist received in 2005 and Registered Respiratory Therapist received in 2007. Tabatha has been with the Martha Jefferson Hospital Sleep Medicine Center since 2004 and is currently serving as Lead Technologist.



ElizabethElizabeth, RPSGT, CRT
Elizabeth received her credentials as a Certified Respiratory Therapist in 1993 from SouthWestern Community College in Sylva, NC. She received credentials as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist in 2003. Elizabeth has been with the Martha Jefferson Sleep Medicine Center since Spring 2007.



LizzeLizze
Lizze received her Bachelor of Science in biology from the Univerisity of Virginia. She is currently attending Piedmont Virginia Community College for an Associate of Science degree in nursing, and received her certified nursing aide credentials in December 2008. Lizze recently joined the Martha Jefferson Sleep Lab in September 2009 and is pursuing her registration in Polysomnography.



mattMatt, EMT
Matt has attended Piedmont Virginia Community College, Old Dominion University and Univerzita Karlova, Prague CR.  He is conversational in both German and Czech. Matt is an EMT credential and is working towards completing his paramedic certification. He has been with Martha Jefferson Sleep Center since April 2009 and is pursuing registration in Polysomnography.



RobynRobyn, RPSGT, RRT
Robyn received her Bachelors of Science from Kansas State University and Associate of Science from J. Seargent Reynolds in respiratory therapy. Robyn received her credentials as a Certified Respiratory Therapist in 2004, became Registered Polysomnographic Technologist in 2005, and in 2007 received her credentials as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. Robyn has been with the Martha Jefferson Sleep Medicine Center since 2004.



sarahSarah, RPSGT
Sarah received her Bachelors of Arts from Mary Baldwin College and her Associates of Arts from Piedmont Virginia Community College. Sarah became a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist in March of 2008 and has been with the Martha Jefferson Sleep Medicine Center since 2006.



stephStephanie
Stephanie received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Appalachian State University and her Associate of Applied Science in Polysomnography from Catawha Valley community College. Stephanie joined the Martha Jefferson Sleep Medicine Center in August of 2009 and is pursuing registration in Polysomnography.



tiffanyTiffany, CNA
Tiffany is currently attending Piedmont Virginia Community College pursuing a degree in Psychology. Tiffany received her Certified Nursing Aide credential in June of 2007.  Tiffany joined the Martha Jefferson Sleep Medicine Center in September of 2009 and is pursuing registration in Polysomnography.



Victoria
Victoria received her BachelorÕs of Art in Education from the University ofVirginia and an Associate of Science in Education from Piedmont VirginiaCommunity College. She is currently attending Piedmont Virginia Community College in order to obtain an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing. Victoriajoined the Martha Jefferson Sleep Medicine Center in August 2009 and is currently pursuing certification in Polysomnography.
